When I was growing up, December was never complete without “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Along with the carols of the Nativity season, it probably did more than anything else to prepare me for my reading of the New Testament, through which I became a Christian in 1977. To this day, I can recite Luke 2:8-14 in King James English, because Linus taught it to me:
