I love abortion. I don’t accept it. I don’t view it as a necessary evil. I embrace it. I donate to abortion funds. I write about how important it is to make sure that every woman has access to safe, legal abortion services. I have bumper stickers and buttons and t-shirts proclaiming my support for reproductive freedom. I love abortion. [Emphasis in original, though it was in italics, not bold.]

Does she ever stop to think where she would be if her mother had thought the same way?

I’m guessing…no.

Tom, I’m not sure that’s an arguement that would win any points with her or any pro-abortion person. While we think it’s a valid point, and it is, I’m not sure it would register with them. She is right in this way: if what she says is true, that abortion is just a medical procedure, then it’s just tike having a mole removed and therefore it is something to be happy about. Of course, a child is not a mole, or a zit, or an tonsil. A fetus is a child. What we want is people to be pro-choice, and to choose life. If they don’t want the child, then maybe then can choose contraception. If they don’t want the child, and they think that the available contraception techniques aren’t effective, then they can choose not to engage in activity that may cause conception. There are all kinds of choices that they can make. However, being pro-choice means that the only choice is abortion. People are apparently incapable of making the choice to use contraceptive devices or medications, or are incapable of making a choice to say no to certain activities. They aren’t pro-choice, as they don’t want to make any choices. They just want justification to live their lives without the consequences of their choices. In the end, they are the ones who are anti-choice and demeaning of women, as women are obviously incapable of making any of these choices. You can be pro-life and pro-choice in this way. That makes the current “pro-choice” people simply “pro-death”. We need to change the debate if we are going to win this one.
