Consider this a cautionary Election Day reminder: the politics of this world do not convey salvation, and the kingdoms of this world are not the Kingdom of God.
We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the foe, that’s all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain’t changed
‘Cause the banners, they all flown in the next war
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
No, no!
I’ll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
There’s nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
Don’t get fooled again
No, no!
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Who is the drummer? He is way too young to be original “Who”

The drummer is Ringo Starr’s son, Zach Starkey. What prophetic lyrics written over 30 years ago!

Funny how you watch the instrument you play or have played. Just love to watch a good bass player go to town.

All I can think about in watching this video is their classic, “My Generation.” And thinking, “Dang, Daltry and Townsend look OLD!”
Excellent word though David. Thanks.

They’re geezers, no doubt about it–but I hope I have half their energy at the same age!

Old and gray, but rockin’ it out nonetheless. While not a path to salvation, there are times when rock and roll can approach a “spirtiual” experience. This performance is one of those times. ( Aside: I saw The Who perform this in 1980 in the Greensboro Coliseum. Daltrey’s scream was remarkable.)

Kate,
For the record, Zak Starkey was taught by Keith Moon. Zak is certianly the most fiery of The Who’s drummers in the wake of Moonie’s demise.
