The latest assault on free speech from the “liberal” pro-abortion movement has resulted in pro-life billboards being taken down in Los Angeles. Aimed at Hispanics, they were denounced as…well, you can guess. According to LifeSite News:

A number of pro-life billboards erected in Los Angeles last week highlighting the stratospheric Latino abortion rate were removed by a billboard company after the company was pressured by pro-abortion groups.

The billboards, similar a large billboard erected in New York earlier this year drawing attention to the African-American abortion rate, read: “The most dangerous place for a Latino is in the womb,” in Spanish and English.

“Like a similar ad campaign that ran in New York City, pro-abortion activists are desperately trying to cover up Planned Parenthood’s targeting of minorities, and will squelch free speech to do so,” said Alfonso Aguilar, executive director of the group sponsoring the billboards.

They do so because that’s standard operating procedure among people who have either lost the argument or are determined not to have it so as to prevent losing it. What was the problem with these ads?

Gabriela Valle, senior director of California Latinas for Reproductive Justice, a group that campaigned against the pro-life billboards, told the Orange County Weekly the ads were “anti-woman”, “racist”, and “anti-immigrant.”

“We’re taking a strong stance against theses ads. They’re completely racist. An attack to one community is an attack to all,” said Valle. “They’re anti-woman. They’re anti-immigrant. This ad is just one more place for Latino communities to be attacked.”

Someone has obviously tripped her cliche production machine. There’s no argument here, no reason for calling these ads racist, anti-woman, or anti-immigrant, except to call demonize and intimidate. Sadly, they succeeded:

Valle said that the outdoor billboard company, CBS Outdoors, had confirmed to her organization that they would take the billboards down.

Planned Parenthood applauded the removal of the ads. “Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is happy to see these offensive and racist billboards are being taken down,” the group said in a statement to “Community organizations within Los Angeles led the effort to have these billboards removed.”

“Community organizations” that no doubt have significant ties to the death machine that is Planned Parenthood. I’d be interested to know whether anyone as ever seen Planned Parenthood advertising that was directed at African Americans, or that was in Spanish. Sounds like those would be “racist” as well, by the feeble thinking put out by PP. And let’s get real: if “offensive” (to whom? why? how much? under what circumstances?) is now the standard for deciding whether someone gets to put out a message, the first ones to go should be any and all PP ads that so much as hint that the killing of children is a legitimate moral option. Then we can shut down NARAL-Pro-Death America, the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, Emily’s List, and pretty much any politician who says anything more consequential than, “I like pie.”
